So, what is this “Dissonance” game? In short, this game is a metroidvania RPG hybrid about Shan, an ordinary guy, who’s just living his life when suddenly, everyone’s getting cool magical powers. His adventure to find out what exactly is going on, brings him outside of the reality he thought he knew, and into a brave new frontier outside of it. Like your standard metroidvania, you find items that then give you the power to explore more places which means you can find even more items, and eventually get powered up into an unstoppable hero. All the while, you’ll meet some cool / strange / funny / interesting individuals among the island of the game’s world. Is this the same ProjectDissonance from Fangame Marathon? Yes it is! I was lucky enough to showcase an early demo of my game at FM2019. The game uses an I Wanna Be The Guy engine provided by Klazen108 with permission, and the rest of the coding was done by me with some help from the guys over at IWannaCommunity. These people will also be in the credits. What makes this different from any other Metroidvania? For starters, there’s a party member system, which you can customize to your liking. Each party member can be switched to and from on the fly with the press of a button, and they all bring their own strengths to the table. (you can turn off the characters following you for added precision and focus) In addition, each party member has their own special moves and magical attacks to dish out pain or find secrets. If you need more: there’s also going to be a way to do the game with literally no items if you’d want to try that. And more… Party layouts, dynamic dialogue, and Zero% are ways to replay the game with new experiences. When does it come out? It’ll be a long while, maybe sometime in 2022. However, I will have periodic Demo releases available to some members of my Discord server, and… later in development… an exclusively private Steam prerelease testing group. What will I be able to play it on? Basically all of the demos will be on Windows, however I do have the ability to port it to Mac OS X and Linux. And, if I can manage to get the money and legal know-how, we might even be able to see it on the Nintendo Switch…! For real? You can port it to the Switch? The Switch export module costs some big-ones but yes we can totally do that if I get some mad cash and some time to make sure nothing breaks on our new console. I might buy your game. What will it cost on Steam? Well thank you for the consideration! It’ll probably cost around 8 bucks, which is actually cheaper than most high-shelf metroidvania titles. I do hope that’s a pretty good deal for what you’ll be getting. Do you have any way to communicate with fans? I shill my game in some Discord servers, sometimes post about it in Twitter, but you’ll find info to contact me on “About”. What all goes into developing this? Most of the time I’m passing ideas among my team, making art assets, coding, or just simply slacking off (game dev isn’t easy, lol). I stream on Twitch.tv making sprites every so often, but you can ask me anything in my Discord server about what goes into game making. I really like some of your character designs. Do you accept fanart? A l w a y s . I encourage any and all fanart, fan creations, and what-have-you just as long as you don’t sell them or steal their designs, etc. We also encourage contributing ideas and concepts for the game, as well.
